A Micro-Services perspective on iOS Architecture

Swift Heroes Digital 2020 1-2 October, #directtoyourdevice

A Micro-Services perspective on iOS Architecture Mugunth Kumar, Senior iOS Engineer, Xero Ltd

(Not yet another architecture talk) The backend development stack has been using micro-services for development and speed up deployment (continuous integration) over a decade. While iOS and Swift development had taken architectural inspiration from backend stack, this one technique has not been embraced very well. We have had react like architectures/ TEA (The elm architecture) and various others (in addition to MVVM+Rx).

However, continuous integration and deployment remains a pain that has not been solved very well. Different companies have different strategies and this talk explains one such that has been very successful in helping a company scale the operations from a one-man team to a team with 15 developers.

This talk is aimed at senior engineers who play a key role in architecting iOS projects and ensuring smooth delivery of features in their respective apps.
