Platform engineering for private cloud
While platform engineering conversations often focus on public cloud, a significant portion of enterprise applications still run on private cloud infrastructure. In this session, Michael Coté shares real-world stories and lessons from organizations applying platform engineering practices in these more complex, internally managed environments. Drawing on his experience with large enterprises, Coté examines how platform teams operate when public cloud services are unavailable, and how responsibilities - such as managing storage, infrastructure, and developer experience - shift in a private cloud context. He also discusses how internal platforms are product-managed and delivered at scale without the flexibility of starting from scratch. Attendees will gain insights into navigating existing IT stacks, evolving enterprise processes, and adopting platform engineering approaches that support business-critical systems.
