Managing the Managed: Advanced Automation and Security for Amazon OpenSearch Service - Luciano Taranto & Derrike Nunn, Amazon Web Services Join us as we share our journey of operating OpenSearch at scale through Amazon’s managed service offering. We’ll demonstrate how we’ve solved common operational challenges for organizations adopting OpenSearch for the first time, focusing primarily on automation and security. Learn how we’ve implemented an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach using AWS Cloud Development Kit to manage not just cluster deployment, but the entire ecosystem. Our deep dive will explore the automation of cluster provisioning and configuration management, showing how we’ve extended this to include codifying OpenSearch resources such as indices, lifecycle policies, and dashboards to build repeatable, turnkey deployments for diverse use cases. We will provide a small demonstration of the IaC patterns we’ve developed focusing on provisioning a cluster for a semantic search use case with mutual TLS authentication for access control. As part of this session, we’ll share our open-source library that encapsulates these best practices, making it easier for teams using Amazon OpenSearch Service to implement similar automation patterns in their own deployments.
