Legal & Policy Session | Raman Jit Singh Chima | Access Now

Talk Abstract: The infosec community is getting a lot of attention in India, especially in relation to vulnerability disclosure and increasing public awareness of data breach incidents. While the community does a critical job in keeping the government and big tech honest and accountable, the legal regime around cyber security research and vulnerability disclosure remains an ambiguous minefield.

In this session, Access Now will cover the legal and regulatory regime in India surrounding cybersecurity. We will provide the community a brief on the broad structure of the laws and the institutions in this domain. We will also discuss what lies ahead for the evolution of cybersecurity policy and ICT laws impacting the infosec community in 2019 - and what a progressive, digital security enhancing proposals could look like.
